Forgot to start the timer? Add a clear manual time entry
Record the actual start and end of completed work, review overnight behavior, and understand when an entry becomes locked.
Missing a timer start does not mean you have to lose the work record. A manual entry lets you record a completed interval with the project, task, and description that explain what happened.
The short version
Choose the correct work context, enter the actual start and end, and review the duration before saving. The end must follow the start and cannot be in the future. Edit an entry before approval or invoice allocation makes it part of a protected workflow.
Reconstruct the interval carefully
Use the best record you have of the work: your own notes, task activity, or the actual working session. Keep the description specific enough to explain the entry during a later review.
Select the project and task that own the work. Confirm the billable flag rather than relying on an assumption that every hour spent on a client project should be billed.
A manual entry records a time interval. It is not a request to issue an invoice for that interval.
Review the duration and dates
Klaq calculates the duration from the entered start and end. Check both dates as well as the times, especially when work crosses midnight.
For example, a session starting late on one date and ending early on the next is an overnight interval. In the daily and weekly timesheet, its full duration belongs to its local start date rather than being split across calendar days.
Use that behavior consistently when reviewing the timesheet with the person who recorded the work.
Correct a record before it moves downstream
An eligible completed entry can be edited or deleted. Running, approved, and invoice-allocated entries are protected from ordinary editing and deletion.
If the record is already approved, ask the person responsible for approval to review the appropriate next action. Do not create a compensating duplicate entry to make a total look right.
Once time is reserved by an invoice draft, it also participates in the billing workflow. Deleting that draft releases its reservations; issued or void invoice allocations remain part of the traceable history.
Check the filtered result
After saving, review the entry under the date and project filters you expect to use. Date filters select entries by their start within the selected range, so an overnight interval can appear different from a report that splits hours at midnight.
Common questions
Can I enter time that has not happened yet?
The completed entry workflow does not accept an end in the future. Use tasks and project dates to plan future work.
Why is an edit action unavailable?
Check whether the entry is running, approved, or linked to an invoice.
